Speaking to reporters today during a visit to Tripoli, NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen insisted that the military alliance has “no intention whatsoever” of attacking Syria the way they attacked Libya.
Instead Rasmussen urged Syria to “accommodate the legitimate aspirations” of Syria’s pro-democracy protesters and to “work toward democracy,” a surprisingly mild comment given the number of NATO member nations calling for Assad’s immediate ouster.
The comments likely don’t reflect a step toward non-interventionism from the alliance, particularly as member nations continue to relish in the “victory” in Libya. Instead, it reflects the practical reality that with both Russia and China vetoing threatening resolutions there is virtually no chance of getting a similar imprimatur from the United Nations.
Indeed even resolutions threatening sanctions have been resisted by Russia on the grounds that NATO might try to extend the mandate the way a “no-fly zone” in Libya turned into nationwide bombardment and regime change.
"Says Libya-Style Intervention 'Out of the Question'"
At least until Hilary tells you to. Pathetic puppets.
When I read this, it remonds me to Hitler NAZI-Party Assembly of peace in 1939.
They provided false hate generating information about Syria since months for nothing? It rather show their intention, to set the peace and antiwar movement into sleep mode.

Tarpley on Syria: Beware of fraud and fabrications!
I did not provide many research, but even this was astonishing for me:
Look what a great woman Assad has – alone this makes me believe that anything is wrong what our media tells us:
Syria's first lady on Gaza by CNN
Surely an own car industry are reasons for a war too – they do not like captive markets, where they can not sell their cars. Syrian Made Car -SHAM- watch?v=VG9vRnDBOO0
Also the Yugoslav car factory Zavasta has been bombed 1999 and was on sale after the war. They delivered the whole Balkans with extremely cheap cars and lorries that any farmer with a hammer could easily to repair.
Oh sorry – I did forget my main reason for a comment: Obviously NATO massively mobilizes military in Lativia on the northern border to Russia! Already about two weeks ago. This may be in relation to Syria, because Russia has a naval base their. Their only meditarian military base as far as I know.
As far I remember the report, the military was not identifiable – just black uniforms without any signs. For days lorries with missiles rushed trough the country to the border.
Does any of you have more information about this? I did not find more.
Do they plan a world war in order to cover the finacial crisis?
> Obviously NATO massively mobilizes military in Lativia on the northern border to Russia!
Obviously not. I mean, somebody would have heard about this. The age of info lockdown is past. Anything NATO does, everybody discusses it at least a month in advance. And politicians must sell it, of course.
Since when do military alliances decide who and when they are going to "attack"? At least Rasmussen is not pretending they are going to "protect,"
"Look ma, it's all mine!
NATO understands how bad it looks after this stealing of the wealth of Libya. The final insult was putting an oil man who happens to be a dual citizen with the USA in the office of Prime minister. They saw they could get the wealth and NATO elected to put the people of Libya back into the stone age all for money. NATO is an organization with really is nothing more than the old colonial power who created most of the misery of the last 150 years including the two great world wars.
Rasmussen is a war criminal himself. As PM he stated in the Danish Parliament: "I don´t believe, no, I know that Iraq has WMD" and invaded Iraq with Bush and Blair. They should be arrested and tried in the Hague.
As if anything that pathetic clown says is believable. Assuming it were the case though, it makes the regime change in Libya and lynching of Gaddafi stranger. What exactly was the motivation there then?
In any case, Syria is still in danger of invasion, occupation, drone bombing any day since the West acts out of hysteria and not reason. One day the West loves you, the next day you're an enemy and the following you're dead.
Jason – are you sure that is the full quote? Might it have been that he said "no intention whatsoever at this moment" of attacking Syria.
